The improved level of
technical knowledge has encouraged the human race to think about solutions for
new problems and solve them using the Technology-Task-Fit (TTF) approach. The
concept of this approach is to identify and use the best fit technology for
solving the problem at hand. An important area of rising concerns and issues
nowadays is of elections. Some of these issues are the analysis of elections
results, current popularity status and effective campaigns management.
The availability of
elections results in form of paper sheets makes it difficult to analyze the geographic
distribution of party wins and losses. Usually the NGO’s conduct party popularity
surveys before the elections, but again these results are not used to maximum
benefit. An approach to solve this problem is to use Geographic Information
Systems (GIS) which allows the analyst to join records with halka boundaries
and overlay multiple layer to perform analysis like identification of high,
medium and low magnitude campaign requirement area. This research would use the
past election results and current popularity data gathered through surveys and
tweets to solve the above highlighted problem.
A solution to this problem
is highly significant as it would allow better understanding and coverage of
elections and would allow efficient use of money and time.
